What happens when teenagers from 12 different nationalities, an 81-year-old Zimbabwean community leader, and a Cameroonian health and safety engineer all sit down to paint one shared canvas?
Together We Strive is the story of a year-long, community-led journey in Malta, where locals and migrants from vastly different walks of life came together to challenge social fragmentation, environmental neglect, and cultural isolation.
Through creative workshops, candid conversations, and data-driven insight, this project not only sparked unlikely friendships—it unearthed surprising truths about what’s really dividing us, and how simple acts of collaboration can begin to heal it.
Excerpt from Chapter 5: Bridging the Divide
“Purposively designed action-based community engagement events provided local and migrant youths, adults, and seniors the opportunity to meet and engage with each other and learn about one another’s values, traditions, lifestyles, and aspirations… The workshop also demonstrated that working together on one piece of art can truly help to bridge the divide, build social cohesion and spark off innovation.
This quote reflects the book’s core ethos—that art, dialogue, and co-creation are powerful tools to overcome divisions and foster genuine, sustainable community integration.
