NWAMI International Malta (NIM) Chairperson, Maria Gabriele Doublesin, and Oswald Scicluna, director of OSA Services Ltd, signed the support agreement that allows Nwami International Malta to use Ta’ Detta‘s Restaurant and facilities. This milestone for NIM was commemorated with the unveiling of a plaque at the restaurant’s entrance at the Valletta Waterfront.

Delivering her keynote speech at the event, NIM Chairperson, Maria Gabriele Doublesin said that “dealing with complexities of highly diversified communities necessitates a higher level of cultural sensitivity and the development of a strategic approach towards multicultural integration”.

Ms Doublesin stressed the importance of awareness-raising about creating and maintaining an ongoing dialogue between Malta’s marginalised and mainstream local communities.

NWAMI International Malta deals with issues related to the existence, acceptance, and with promotion of multicultural traditions, seeking to contribute to the development of mutual awareness through open dialogue, enabling the recognition of issues that may exist among individuals in any given place and at any given time.

NWAMI International Malta’s main purpose is helping to build integrated and inclusive communities by assisting relevant stakeholders to develop a strategic approach towards multicultural integration.  To achieve this, a strong sense of mutual acceptability among people from all backgrounds must be cultivated.

“Open-minded thinking lays at the core of mutual acceptability towards diverse circumstances of a highly diversified society. Moreover, open-mindedness is also important in critical reasoning when looking at the whole context of Malta’s contemporary socio-cultural fabric”.

Ms Doublesin said that Nwami’s major goal is to assist key stakeholders in developing a systematic approach to multicultural integration to aid the development of more integrated and inclusive societies. She thanked OSA Services Ltd Executive Oswald Scicluna and his son Nigel for providing NWAMI International Malta with a social space at Ta Detta right at the Valetta’s beautiful Waterfront to help us put the organisation’s objectives into action, facilitating an interchange of ideas, friendships, and talents. “The value of social space is derived from the chances it affords for social interaction, mixing, and inclusion”, Doublesin concluded.
