A walking tour along the Valletta Waterfront, with stops at key locations.

Tour Highlights:

Stop 1: The origins of the Valletta Waterfront during the time of the Knights of St John, focusing on its role in trade and defence.

Stop 2: The transformation of the Waterfront during British rule, including its use as a key military and naval hub.

Stop 3: The impact of World War II on the Valletta Waterfront and its significance in the resilience of the Maltese people.

Matteo Privitelli is an expert in Maltese history and sustainable development, making him an ideal host for the Culture Cafe event, “The Valletta Waterfront – Historical Narratives and Malta’s Independence.” As a Senior Manager at the Sustainable Development Directorate in Malta, Matteo is deeply involved in shaping policies that preserve Malta’s cultural heritage. He also serves as a council member of the Malta Union of Tourist Guides

Matteo holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in International Relations and a Master of Arts in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Malta, along with a Master of Arts in Hospitaller Studies. His academic background provides a rich foundation for understanding Malta’s historical and cultural landscape.

Certified as a Professional Tour Guide by the Institute for Tourism Studies, Matteo works with Colour My Travel to share Malta’s history with visitors, making complex stories accessible and engaging.

With his extensive knowledge and experience, Matteo offers participants a unique and insightful perspective on the historical significance of the Valletta Waterfront and its role in Malta’s journey to independence.
