December is the month when one day is set aside to honour all those who give up a significant portion of their free time to lend a helping hand or go the extra mile with their service without compensation. Volunteering is one of the most important ways to affect social, environmental, and economic change because it can permanently alter people’s thoughts, attitudes, and actions. People become agents of change and equal partners in achieving local, national, and international progress toward long-term human development.

Building Equal and Inclusive Societies

This year, NWAMI International Malta (NIM) celebrated International Volunteers Day by recognising its volunteers and professionals for their outstanding and selfless contributions to reducing social exclusion, combating racism, and working together to promote inclusive and sustainable communities. It was decided to combine the occasion of the UN International Volunteers Day, which is usually celebrated on December 5th, with a celebration for the Festive Season, which took place on December 21st.
